Hey, I just got done watching Pixar's new film "Up." What is there to say... it's no surprise, Pixar once again delivers and gives us one of the best movies of the year. I am going to quickly give you some of my thoughts on the film. Up was a little less visually stunning than Walle (Pixars previous master piece), but it ramps up on character building and a more emotional connection with the main characters. The pacing of the movie was very odd but it worked. The first 15 minutes of the movie was heart wrenching. You are immediately sold on every characters development in the story, making for some possibly teary moments in the first 15 minutes of the movie. What I thought was a strange choice is the early story boarding of the movie will probably confuse some younger kids. It gives implications to what happens in the movie but most kids will have to figure this out on their own.
They keep a strict few characters, which works well. The nostalgic old man is by far the highlight, but the boyscout, dog and bird definitely have there place in the movie to make it more light hearted and funny. I personally connected with the dogs humor more than any other character. I can be a pretty negative/cynical guy, but this movie doesn't really have any outstanding flaws. I do wish I could find non animated movies of this caliber, but most movies don't deliver on every front like Pixar's movies do. It is definitely getting to the point where it is almost impossible to pick a favorite. Anyway, I recommend seeing this film over all others right now. I don't think anybody will be disappointed.
