Plants vs Zombies: How Zombies are Helping the Economy

The game entitled "Plants vs Zombies" for the PC and Mac just came out today. I happen to be a pretty big gamer, among other things, and I just had to tell other people about this game. To get to the point; "Plants vs Zombies" is flipping awesome and definitely adds something new to the genre of tower defense games. The game is by Pop Cap which brought other instant classics like "Peggle" and "Bookworm Adventures" and is centralized towards a casual audience. You play as plants trying to protect your house from oncoming zombie hordes. This is accomplished by building preventative plant guns, shields, mines, and bombs. It's a simple concept that has been all the rage lately.

Speaking of trends, I have noticed that zombies are quickly becoming the "in" thing. This is due mainly to the widely known hit, "Left 4 Dead", that was released 8 months ago. Not that "Left 4 Dead" started the whole craze, we can look back several years and blame games like "Resident Evil 4" and "Dead Rising". We, of course, had zombie games before that, but after the whole "28 Days Later" movie phase we found that zombies that can run faster than greyhounds and swarmed us like bees made us poop our pants a little. No more slow moving zombies while we line up our head shots, it's all about the quick moving over sized horde.

Getting back to the point, the gaming community loved "Left 4 Dead" and now other game developers are quick to jump on the heels of it's success by releasing new zombie based games. This is not necessarily a good thing. Yeah sure, we have "Left 4 Dead" and "Call of Duty: World at War" survival mode, but now we also have about 12,000 newly made flash games about the undead. In a personal prediction this reemerged craze will spread to TV and film pretty quickly, bringing back the classic zombie movies. In conclusion, it will be the obvious solution to our economy's blunder. Yes... Zombies. Anyway, go to PopCap.com and download the demo for freebies. You'll love it, then buy the game to save our economy.
