Eminem's music videos are like newsletters that come out every couple of years summing up celebrity gossip in a Howard Stern like fashion. His newest video doesn't stray away from this idea in the least; which still makes it entertaining, but the redundancy is starting to show. Eminem's video "We Made You" gets right down to the issues, covering a variety of things like Jessica Simpson, Amy Winehouse, Sarah Palin, and... Star Trek? Wait, what? His main man, Dr. Dre, also makes a guest appearance in the video, which isn't surprising.
The jokes aren't as fresh as they were 10 years ago but anybody who follows pop culture gossip will smile at the costumed appearances of the spotlight celebs. The video will feel very familiar to Eminem's old ones. He raps to the camera without a camera angle change and the rest plays out like a sketch comedy show that is all based on the sets and characters, not the direction or camera angles. The formula is still fairly solid, especially since his other music videos that will inevitably follow will be a lot different and carry a more serious tone. Overall, a great effort even if most of the shock value is gone.
