It is great to see that Katy Perry's music videos are increasingly getting better with every song. This is mostly due to the way that Melina directed the video. Melina's previous work hasn't been nearly this full of depth, and it's a breath of fresh air to see such an eloquent song paired with a well done music video. "Thinking of You" is set in the 40's during the second World War which is still a relatively untapped subject. The video's main focus is Katy's fidelity and guilt over her war-stricken love affair. Most of the photography is really well done, and the cosmetic value of the replication of the 40's setting is mostly spot on. There is a short war sequence that doesn't pan out as well as say, the sequence from the My Chemical Romance video "Ghost of You." Still, the idea is well employed. The main downfall of the video is that it could have been milked for more emotion and the deliverance of the climax could have been better. Other than that, it is another great stepping stone for Katy Perry and hopefully she can keep up her progressive streak.
