The Maine Everything I asked for Music Video Review

Everything I asked for
What always makes a review much easier to do is if it's apparent that the video purely and whole heartedly sucks. Such is the case with The Maine's music video Everything I Asked For. Nope, I'm not going to say any redeeming qualities the video may or may not have because when it comes down to it you're watching music videos to be entertained. So, me suggesting that this video has some very significant sets, lighting or wardrobe (which it doesn't) will not make me recommend it to you. So, let me break down why this video sucks so hard.

Going back to the set, it is absolutely awful. The stripe colors don't do anything for the theme or the mood of the music. There are only a few locations within the set that make it hard not to get bored with in the first 30 seconds. The camera angles are sometimes okay but mostly just repetitive and make the band seem very lackluster. Speaking of the band, they look like 12 year olds picking up big boy instruments for the very first time. The lighting is trite and tries to have a bloomy look but it falls short of the greats like Britney Spears' newest video, Womanizer. The whole point of the video feels, for lack of a better word, stupid. The video is supposed to take place at some kind of a fashion show where the band messes with the girls wardrobe and...don't make me continue. Anyway, this gives the video a chance to show some badly made blue screen foregrounds of people snapping pictures and watching the fashion show while the band plays in the background.

I'm going to stop there. It is obvious that there could be several more paragraphs of critique that need to be made before this video could be considered good. So, if you really want to see some pre-pubescent boys and their low cut shirts, then just watch your little brother change his clothes. I guarantee it will be more entertaining.
