Secondhand Serenade Your Call Music Video Review

Secondhand Serenade's new music video "Your Call" isn't bad, it's really bad, but it does have some redeeming qualities. The video takes a chance which is more than you can say about Secondhand's past attempts. What remains consistent through all his videos is the lead singer's push to put a hot woman in his videos. Girlfriend, wife, or camp counselor aside (whatever the mysterious women may be), the idea still comes across as unromantic and seemingly only gives the music video a reason to shoot her in her underwear. As I said before, this video relaxes this idea a bit and goes for something a little more out of the box. What you are left with is a very bad blue screen job and a set that only brushes past the idea of making sense. It seems to borrow ideas from the Labyrinth or a Tim Burton creation. Which isn't a bad idea, people have been doing it for years.

The lead singer seems to be following the previously mentioned mysterious woman. As he follows her, a series of effects are occurring around him, none of which look any good. When it nears the end of the song it closes with a choir finale. We can all agree this song has a very emo quality and this fact is exerted twofold with his ending performance. The lead singer looks as if he is trying to tuck his balls as hard as he can, while he stretches his X chromosome to hit those high notes. I only recommend this video to people who love the Nightmare Before Christmas and just lost their girlfriend. Otherwise, steer clear.
